People in Ireland are as well known for their enjoyment of leisure as for their work ethic. We love our work here but thankfully we work to live and don't live just to work. A combination of time spent in traffic and heavy work demands nonetheless impinge on the amount of free time we all have these days. The result is a strong movement in Ireland to maintain and improve the balance between work and family life. In this series of articles, we will explore initiatives in flexible working and childcare, the role of the over 55s and other related areas. First though, holidays and parental leave.
