A Taste of Irish Culture
by Eugenie Houston

People in Ireland love to enjoy themselves, better known as "having the craic". If the "craic" is good enough it defies definition. Formerly "crack", until ambiguous meaning necessitated a change, "craic" is an Irish sounding pronunciation of an English word, the kind of thing linguistic purists hate. However, they don’t mind having craic. Craic is a good time, good company, good atmosphere and conversation. If you are enjoying yourself, it is good craic.
