Yes, there are skills shortages for some jobs in Ireland - but applying for those jobs, if you are from abroad, is not as straightforward as you may think. If you do not have the right to work in Ireland, or a valid working permit, you may face the difficulty of trying to get an employer to sponsor you or even consider your application at all.

The Celtic Tiger economy has brought with it an unprecedented growth and prosperity to Ireland. However, on the flip side, it has also brought with it shortages of skilled workers in many industries. Filling these vacancies is an ongoing challenge faced by many Irish employers. The problem is forcing some, but not all, employers and hiring professionals to focus their recruitment efforts abroad in an attempt to fill some of these posts.
